Wood and sustainability
Forests managed in a sustainable way are CO2 sinks.
The wood-derived product are carbon stores. They have an important role in the increase of the efficiency of forests. On the one hand, they enlarge the period in which CO2 is stored before being freed to the atmosphere again, and, on the other hand, they promote the growth and renovation of forests.
The production and the processing of wood have high energy efficiency, they may replace other materials which require high amounts of energy for their production.
